Amsterdam on the Water, Closer Than You Think

Silos at dawn
Silos at dawn

Cycling from Amsterdam Centraal to Silos takes 18 minutes. From De Pijp: 20 minutes. From Houthavens: 25. Zeeburgereiland sits between the city center, IJburg, and Noord. Right on the water, right on the edge of something new.

The island

The three silo towers are visible from the A10 ring. Tens of thousands of people pass by every day. Most don't know what's happening here yet.

The island already has more going on than you'd expect. The Urban Sport Zone is Europe's largest public skatepark at 3,850m². During Eurovision, 180 million viewers worldwide saw footage of this spot. Next to it: public sports fields for football, hockey, padel, basketball, and athletics. Free and open to everyone.

Right next to Silos, the Sluisbuurt is rising: a new neighborhood with residential towers up to 125 meters and over 5,500 homes. The first 100-meter tower was just completed. On the eastern tip, a green dune park is coming. Inspired by the Veluwe, with play areas, sports facilities, and access to the water.

A building that brings it together

Silos combines offices, Rialto Cinema, Silo Sports Club, restaurant, bars, and the Panorama Park in one building. Walk from your workspace to a film, from a meeting to lunch with a view. Get active in the gym or on the padel courts or take a stroll to the dune park at the water's edge. Everything within reach, everything connected.

Getting here

Tram 26 stops 150 meters from the door; four stops to Amsterdam Centraal. Bus 37 connects to the east. The tram is getting more capacity with a new depot: higher frequency, more space. The F11 ferry now runs between Sluisbuurt and Sporenburg.

More space for cyclists is coming to IJburglaan. And from 2029, the junction with Zuiderzeeweg becomes Zeeburgerplein. Better flow, less waiting. By car? P+R Zeeburg III is across the street from Silos, and there's plenty of public parking nearby.

What's next

Zeeburgereiland is where Amsterdam is writing its next chapter. Space, water, an urban neighborhood taking shape. Silos opens late 2026.
